Broken Bow qualifies eleven for State Track Meet

AURORA – The Broken Bow track and field team had seven state qualifiers during Tuesday’s district meet in Aurora.

In Class B the top three finishers in each event in each district qualify for a state meet. The next six best performances across all districts also qualify.

Cruze Safranek led the Indians by winning the district title in both the 100 and 200 meters.

In the field, Max Denson is the district champion in shot put with Evan Cyboron finishing runner-up. Coy Wardyn took the district title in pole vault.

The Broken Bow girls qualified a pair of throwers with Janae Marten third in shot put and Keelyn Shea third in discus.

After all districts were completed, Broken Bow’s additional qualifiers were Brice Chaplin in shot put, Eli Coble in long jump, Klarissa Dowdy in the 300m hurdles and the girls 4×800 relay team of Ashlyn Schauda, Maren Chapin, Addison Ellis and Halle Quinn.

District competition will continue with Class D on Wednesday and Class C on Thursday. The State Track Meet will be May 15-18 in Omaha.
