14 people killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roads in February 2024

Lincoln, Neb. — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) said 14 people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roads in February 2024.

NDOT said the 14 deaths occurred in 13 fatal crashes. Ten of the deaths were in rural locations. Two fatalities occurred on the interstate, nine on other highways, and 3 on local roads.

Icy roads were a contributing factor in one of the fatality crashes, according to the NDOT.

The agency said six of the 12 people killed were not using seat belts, three were using a seat belt, and three had seat belt usage marked as unknown. One of the fatalities was a motorcyclist.

One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
