Jean Beltz, formerly of Arnold

Jean Deloris (Nelson) Beltz of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born October 6, 1924, in Holdrege, Nebraska to Edward and Almeda (Bjorklund) Nelson. When she was a junior in high school, her family moved close to Arnold, Nebraska where she met Lloyd Beltz, Jr. at a Baptist youth fellowship event. Jean and Lloyd were married on June 9, 1946, in Arnold. Before they were married, Jean earned a teaching certificate in high school and spent a couple years teaching in area country schools. In addition, she was a licensed beautician. Over the years, Jean and Lloyd lived in several places but primarily in Bloomington, Minnesota where they raised their children.

Jean was a keen observer of people and their relationships and enjoyed being around other people. When her children were young, she volunteered with community groups including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Jean and Lloyd were also active members of Bloomington Baptist Church. In later years, the two enjoyed square dancing and traveling together including to Europe and Alaska. Jean and Lloyd worked hard to maintain their connection to their family and friends in Arnold, Nebraska, traveling back to visit almost every Memorial Day for most of their adult lives. In her later years, Jean enjoyed developing her interest in painting. Several of her paintings hung in the halls of her independent living facility in Rochester.

Jean was preceded in death by Lloyd, her husband of sixty-five years; her son Rodney Beltz; and siblings Helen Pickett, Marie Dahme, Bernice Steele, John Nelson, and Betty Ann Nelson. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Walters (Tom Othling) of Rochester; her daughter-in-law Marcia Beltz of Naples, FL; grandsons William Walters of La Crosse, WI; Kevin (Sarah) Walters of Arlington, TX; and Garrett (Lacey) Beltz of Lakeville, MN; granddaughter – in – law, Gulshat Joy Walters; her daughter by choice, Minal Sahu of Bloomington and her son Ishan of Fayetteville, NC; and three great grandchildren, Samuel Walters, Lillian Walters, and Rolan Beltz.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on May 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold, NE with Pastor Irv Jennings officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
