Stanton Man Seriously Injured in Workplace Fall in Pilger
July 24th, 2024 | Stanton County Sheriff's Office

At about 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to an accidental injury fall in Pilger at the Pilger Co-Op. Upon arriving it was found a 52-year old Stanton man had fallen more than 25 feet off a sloped room of a storage building on the Co-Op grounds. He was stabilized by first responders from the Sheriff’s office, Pilger Fire and Rescue along with Wisner Fire and Rescue. Efforts were underway to fly him from the scene by medical helicopter, but due to the distance and delay of the nearest medical helicopter he was transported to FRHS in Norfolk by ambulance. The injured male was later flown to UNMC from FRHS with serious injuries. The Co-Op employee was apparently trying to clean a vent at the very top of the roof, when he lost his balance and slid down to the north edge of the roof and fell to the ground. The Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the fall and mapped the area with a drone supplied by Stanton County Emergency Management.
