At about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle accident near the Hwy 32 and Hwy 15 junction that sent the 18-year old lone driver to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Jeylynne Chavez of rural Pilger, was northbound on Hwy 15 when it appears she had fallen asleep and left the roadway and entered a ditch driving thru a fence and striking a tree before coming to rest against a creek embankment. Chavez was transported to the Schuyler hospital by Howells rescue. Seatbelts were in use and multiple airbags did deploy. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
