Vermillion- Edgar, Nebraska native Carrie Eighmey was named the head women’s basketball coach at the University of South Dakota this week. This is a job that Eighmey and her husband Devin who is an assistant on her coaching staff have been interested in for awhile. KRVN’s Jayson Jorgensen spoke with Eighmey about this big move in her career.

Before spending a year at Idaho, the Eighmey’s had a great eight year run at Nebraska-Kearney. This followed a fantastic run of success as the head coach at Hastings Coach for Eighmey. As a player she helped lead the Broncos to NAIA national championships in 2002 and 2003. She has an overall record of 248-121 as a collegiate head coach. She takes over a program that went 23-13 last year and advanced to the third round of the WNIT.
