The Nebraska Cattlemen have a big presence at this year’s Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show.
Pete McClymont, Executive Vice President of the group, said there are not any big policy issues on the table. The Nebraska Cattlemen did push for a pair of policy changes. One would allocate funding for weather monitoring systems. The second has to do with the timely pickup of fed cattle.
Nebraska has several individuals who serve in the ranks of NCBA. Later this week, Buck Wehrbein is expected to be voted in as Vice President of NCBA.
Nebraska Cattlemen has leaders in four of NCBA’s seven policy committees. The policy committee appointments are as follows.
Agriculture and Food Policy Committee Chair – Ken Herz; Lawrence, NE
International Trade Committee Chair – Jaclyn Wilson; Lakeside, NE
Live Cattle Marketing Committee Vice Chair – Mike Drinnin; Clarks, NE
Property Rights and Environmental Management Committee Vice Chair – Barb Cooksley; Anselmo, NE
Jerry Adams with Adams Land and Cattle was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Tuesday evening. Terry Wegner with Drinnin West Cattle Co. for receiving the 2023 Arturo Armendariz Distinguished Service Award during the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Banquet.
