KANSAS CITY, MO. – Morningside Football is back where it left off last season, taking the top spot in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics preseason poll. The Mustangs collected all 18 first place votes.
The top 10 spots in this year’s preseason poll, which is voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA’s conferences, largely reflects last year’s postseason poll, with Northwestern’s Raiders climbing to no. 3 and displacing Lindsey Wilson.
Morningside will open this year’s season facing the best of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, playing the now third-ranked Raiders on Sept. 3 at Elwood Olsen Stadium before traveling to Dordt, who is now no. 21, the following weekend.
