Lawrence “Sonny” Henry Drummond, Jr., 84 years, entered into eternal rest May 18, 2022, surrounded by family at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Memorial Service will be on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Services in Lyons with burial in the Lyons Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to Service at Pelan Funeral Services. Memorials may be directed to Red Barn. Arrangements by Pelan Funeral Services in Lyons.
Lawrence “Sonny” Henry Drummond, Jr. was born to Lawrence, Sr. and Alice (Johnson) Drummond in Oakland Nebraska on December 9, 1937. He entered into eternal rest May 18, 2022, surrounded by family at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
Lawrence attended one room country school at Divide Center. After schooling, he traveled to Colorado for work and health. He soon returned to Lyons to work for the Co Op. He worked most of his life driving various trucks from propane to over the road. He enjoyed driving truck to Canada.
Lawrence was married in 1961; to this union Lawrence was blessed with two boys Terry (Diane) Drummond and Robert (Elizabeth). In 2000 Lawrence and Helen (Christensen) were married. They enjoyed traveling over the road in the truck to various places.
Lawrence enjoyed teaching his granddaughter Leah different things about trucks and driving. It was very rare to find Lawrence without a book in his hand or a crossword puzzle nearby. In his later years he enjoyed spoiling his great grandchildren Raygen, Riley, Reece, and Bennett. They never heard the word no from PaPa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, parents; brothers, Richard and Larry; sister-in-law, Jean Drummond; niece, Sherry Drummond; nephew, Michael Drummond.
He is survived by his children, Terry (Diane) Drummond, Robert (Elizabeth) Drummond; stepsons, Dallas (Maureen) Christensen, and Rex Christensen; brother, Donnie Drummond; sister in law, Kathrine Drummond; grandchildren, Renee Drummond, Justin Drummond, Danielle (JD) Westmark, Mathew Drummond, Leah (Bill) Carlson, David (Katie) Christensen, and Madeline Christensen; great grandchildren, Raygen, Reece, Riley, and Bennett; nieces, nephews, a host of friends.
