Funeral services for Darlene M. Reuter age 90 of Norfolk, NE will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE with Rev. Cal Kaples officiating. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery following the luncheon. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Darlene passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, NE.
Darlene was born May 5th, 1933 to Julia and Edward Dolesh in Madison County. She graduated from Newman Grove High School, class of 1950. After graduating high school with a teaching certificate, she taught in rural grade schools for several years in Stanton and Cuming County. During this time, she attended Wayne State College and received her Teaching Degree. On August 23, 1956, she married Marlin Reuter and the couple settled down in Wisner, NE/Cuming County, purchasing their own farm in December 23, 1966. They raised two children, Karen & Dwight. All were actively busy on the farm either with crops, livestock, gardening, canning/freezing, etc for a wholesome lifestyle. She was involved with 4-H with Karen and Boy Scouts with Dwight.
She was very active in their church, St John’s Lutheran in Pilger, Nebraska. She served in many capacities in LWML (‘Ladies’Aid’). She loved her long-time Extension Club and the women in it for many decades.
Upon retirement from farming, Darlene and Marlin moved to Norfolk where they enjoyed ‘The Good Time Bunch’ activities.
She and Marlin enjoyed traveling in the United States via car and later bus tours where they enjoyed meeting other people. They even traveled to Europe on several occasions. They possibly traveled to every state in the US.
She is survived by: children–Karen (Jerry) Sayre of Grand Junction, CO; Dwight (Marie) Reuter of
Norfolk; 4 grandchildren: Amanda (Iggy) Machuca-Norfolk; Caitlin (Daniil) Bovard -Denver, CO; Billy
Bovard-Grand Junction, CO; Megan (Isaias) Solorio-Wichita, KS; 3 great-grandchildren (Ethan,
Savannah, Audrina Machuca).
Preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Reuter; parents, brother, numerous brothers & sisters-in-law.
