The York County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a paraeducator with York Public Schools. It stems from an investigation that began early Tuesday afternoon. York school personnel reported that they became aware of an incident in which a student alleged to have been inappropriately touched by a school employee.

On Tuesday evening, Scott Velasquez-Lopez was subsequently arrested for two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child. The Sheriff’s Office says that to their knowledge, the incident did not occur at school, on school property, or at a school activity. The news release continues that “as always”, their paramount focus is the safety of children.

If you believe your child was involved or have questions regarding contact with the above-mentioned individual, please contact Dr. Mitch Bartholomew, Katie Burger, or Lieutenant Alex Hildebrand with the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Dr. Bartholomew says the individual is no longer employed at York Public Schools and that the school district will continue to work with the York County Sheriff’s office during this investigation.
