Health & wellness play a vital role in the lives of children and families. We Care for Kids, a campaign aimed at bringing quality early childhood education to all Nebraska families, says there is a direct connection to quality early childhood education and a child’s health and wellness.

Shonna Werth with Nebraska Children & Families Foundation says the first five years of a child’s life lay the foundation for future learning and healthy development.

Werth lists ways providers and families can make sure their kids are getting the experiences they need in those first five years of life.

Werth adds, getting these experiences have a direct connection to lifelong health including preventing chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

We Care For Kids offers many resources to childcare providers, families and communities and you can find that online at nebraskacaresforkids.org.
