Winter storm upgraded to blizzard warning for portions of the area

Portions of the area have been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning where confidence is highest in strongest/most persistent gusts of 45-50 mph.

Elsewhere, A Winter Storm Warning continues and “near-blizzard” conditions are expected.

Blizzard Warning posted through Tuesday 9 a.m. CST

National Weather Service officials say the blizzard Warning may need further expansion later today.

Total snow 6-10″ (isolated higher/lower possible). The National Weather Service.

Continued strong north winds tonight/Tuesday AM will hamper clean up efforts.

Dozens of schools will be closed Monday in anticipation of significant snowfall and near-blizzard conditions that could make travel difficult.
