Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team will compete, weather permitting, at four different schools this upcoming week.

First, the annual Alex Francis Classic at Fort Hays State has been moved up a full day to Wednesday (April 24) to beat the weather. A group of UNK field athletes will attend that meet.

On Thursday, UNK will be at Drake, Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson (Ia.) College. Finally, UNK hopes to compete at Drake on both Friday and Saturday where Wes Ferguson is part of the 800-meter “Elite” field (3:30 p.m. Saturday). Among the invited runners are Olympic and World Champion Emmanuel Korir (Kenya & UTEP), World Champ Adam Fogg (Drake) and Mikuto Kaneko (Japan National Champ). Six years ago, Korir turned in a 1:42.05, the sixth-fastest time in history.

After this busy week, the Lopers travel to Maryville, Mo., for the MIAA Outdoor Championships May 3-5.
