The Southern Valley FFA Chapter is spending the fall semester competing in competitions, preparing for the National FFA Convention, and getting involved in local activities.

In addition, Southern Valley FFA member Sam Russell received a 2021 Nebraska FFA Foundation grant for his Pumpkin Corners Pumpkin Patch Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE).

Russell is using the grant to buy seeds, fertilizer, a harrow to help with weeding and a trailer to haul pumpkins to the farmers markers to sell. Pumpkin Corners Pumpkin Patch features 200 pumpkin plants each year that consists of 10 different varieties of pumpkins.
