Power outage in Holdrege; HPS closed on Monday

A power outage affected Holdrege residents and businesses on Monday morning.

KUVR’s Austin Jacobsen reports that power is completely out in the downtown area. Power lines are down on the east side of the community.

The Holdrege Police Department confirmed the outage. Officials say that the city crew is working diligently to get the power back up.

*UPDATE AS OF 9:58 AM*

Power has begun being restored across the community. Downtown Holdrege is still regaining power.

*UPDATE AS OF 8:27 AM*

Speaking with City of Holdrege City Administrator Chris Rector, the City is continuing to attempt to restore power across the downtown and east half of Holdrege. The hospital and YMCA have both regained power. The City hopes to have power back within the next few hours.

*UPDATE AS OF 8:11 AM*

City crews are continuing to work on the downed power line. A city employee stated it could be some time before power is restored to the eastern half of Holdrege, including the downtown area.

The YMCA R7 facility is open and welcoming community members who are needing re-location for the time being. The Don Sjogren Community YMCA building has restored power.

The YMCA at R7 gym is open (with power and heat) and available to all community members if you need a place to warm up.
