HOLDREGE – First State Bank couldn’t hang on against Adams Bank & Trust of Ogallala on Sunday afternoon. Holdrege was in control most of the game and fell victim to a 7th inning collapse. Ogallala began the 7th down by one. They were able to take advantage of rare mistakes from Holdrege and win 9-5. Click here to listen to the broadcast.

Holdrege, once again, got fantastic pitching from Kaden Broeker. He went 6 innings with only 3 earned runs before reaching his pitch-count limit. Holdrege had been outplaying Ogallala through the first six innings, limiting their errors and walks. The 10-3 Ogallala seniors were definitely up against a determined 3-9 Holdrege team.

Ogallala was led by first baseman Kaden Vogl at the plate. He went 3-5 with 2 runs scored. Aydan Halligan finished the game on the mound for Ogallala, striking out one batter with no runs allowed.

Holdrege saw another solid afternoon at the plate by Carlos Nino de Rivera. He was 1-2 with an RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks. Nino de Rivera also had a very busy game at third base. He made several stops, diving catches, and on-time throws.

The Husker Irrigation Player of the Game was Kaden Broeker. He delivered  a solid start on the mound and had Holdrege in the driver’s seat through 6 innings.

First State Bank will play at Broken Bow on Monday, 6/21, before hosting Lexington Wednesday 6/23. The Lexington game can be heard on KUVR starting with pregame at 7:50.
