New coach brings new enthusiasm at Wilcox-Hildreth
August 28th, 2024 | Jon Schilling

Wilcox, Neb. – The bench will look slightly different for the Wilcox-Hildreth volleyball team this season with the addition of Emersen Lauder as their new head coach. Lauder, an Alliance native, comes to Wilcox-Hildreth fresh out of UNK where she spent the last few years on the Loper volleyball team. She brings a lot of energy and knowledge to the Falcons.

Emersen Lauder introduces herself to KUVR’s Jon Schilling and shares her thoughts on the 2024 season.

The 2023 Falcons were never really able to put it all together finishing the season at 5-21. This year, they look to take a leap forward with an athletic group of girls.

Coach Lauder noticed the major improvement in her team’s passing ability during their short time together this summer. It makes sense considering that has been a major point of emphasis for the Falcons this off season, along with other fundamental skills. Lauder says she knows Wilcox-Hildreth has the physical skill to get more wins, and the next step is to help her team get stronger mentally.

Wilcox-Hildreth will begin their season against a familiar FKC opponent when they travel to Loomis on Thursday, August 29. The first serve is scheduled for 6 pm.
