Nebraska’s August 2024 Unemployment Rate is 2.7 Percent

Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for August 2024 is 2.7 percent, seasonally adjusted. According to the Nebraska Departmentment of Labor (NDOL), the rate is up 0.1 percent from the July 2024 rate. Nebraska’s rate is ranked fifth lowest in the nation.

State Labor Commissioner John Albin says, “New entrants and re-entrants to the labor force were up over the month and are the drivers of the uptick in the unemployment rate.”

The national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August 2024 is 4.2 percent, down 0.1 percentage points from the July 2024 rate of 4.3 percent.

Nebraska’s labor force totals 1,053,704. Of that number, 1,025,773 are employed and 27,931 are unemployed.

September 2024 Nebraska employment data will be published Tuesday, October 22.
