Nebraska Attorney General’s Office issues statement on sentencing of Bailey Boswell:

Lincoln, Neb. — Today the three-member district judge panel issued a sentence of life in prison for Bailey Boswell.

This comes at the four-year mark of Sydney Loofe’s brutal death.

“Throughout the criminal justice process, Sydney’s family has persevered with dignity. With the criminal cases coming to a close and the anniversary of her death approaching, our thoughts are with the Loofe family during this difficult time,” said Attorney General Doug Peterson.

“We appreciate the very challenging work performed by the jury in this matter. I also want to thank all of the important law enforcement agencies that collaborated in developing the evidence necessary to result in this murder conviction and sentence,” stated Peterson.

The many law enforcement agencies who served to investigate and then prosecute Sydney’s death are: Lincoln Police, FBI, Nebraska State Patrol, Saline County Sheriff, Saline County Attorney Tad Eickman, and the Criminal Bureau in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.

Bailey Boswell sentenced to life in prison for 2017 slaying and dismemberment of Sydney Loofe

WILBER, Neb. (AP) – A woman convicted of murder for her role in the death and dismemberment of a Nebraska hardware store clerk has been sentenced to life in prison. A three-judge panel on Monday sentenced 27-year-old Bailey Boswell for her role in the 2017 death and dismemberment of a Nebraska hardware store clerk, Sidney Loofe. Boswell had faced the prospect of being the first woman in state history to be sentenced to death. Prosecutors say Boswell and her boyfriend, 55-year-old Aubrey Trail, had been planning to kill someone before Boswell met the 24-year-old Loofe on the dating app Tinder and lured her to them. Loofe, a cashier at a Menards store in Lincoln, was strangled and her dismembered body parts were later found in garbage bags.
