Ogallala, Neb. – The Southwest Conference Girls Golf Tournament was held at Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala on Tuesday. The Minden Whippets continued their dominant season by winning the team championship. Minden also had a familiar result in the individual standings with KayLynn Jorgensen and Kara Suchsland taking the top two spots. Holdrege has enjoyed a spectacular season as well. The Dusters finished in second place with the four-time defending Class C state champions Broken Bow right behind in third place.
The top five individual placings all went to either Minden, Holdrege, or Broken Bow golfers. Jorgensen led with a 78 with Suchsland just two shots back. Broken Bow’s Molly Custer placed third after finishing the day with a score of 82. Holdrege’s Addi Rehnberg placed fourth, shooting an 85, and Minden’s Brynn Smith placed fifth after scoring 90.

The girls golf season moves to their district tournaments held across the state next week. Broken Bow, Minden, Holdrege, Cozad, and Gothenburg will be at Cambridge’s Cross Creek Golf Course on Monday, October 7. Ogallala and Valentine will be back at Crandall Creek in Ogallala on Monday. McCook is the lone Class B school and will play their district tournament at Southern Hills in Hastings on Monday.
