Holdrege Seniors Outlast Lexington

Lexington-Farm Bureau of Holdrege scored four runs in the 1st and five in the 9th to down Pinnacle Bank of Lexington 13-8 in seniors action on Wednesday night. After jumping out to a four nothing lead after the top of the first, Holdrege saw Lexington come back with seven straight as Pinnacle Bank led it 7-4 after two innings. Farm Bureau however would continue to chip away as they added a run in the 3rd and took the lead 8-7 in the top of the sixth.

Lexington would tie the game in the bottom of that inning when Jase Carpenter scored from second. Each team had chances to score in the 7th and the 8th before Farm Bureau broke it open in the 9th. Cole Guthrie was great in relief for Holdrege as he went 6.2 innings and gave up just five hits, one run and struck out six. Rafe Hill earned the win as he pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth and finished up the game in the ninth.

Farm Bureau was led at the plate by Matt Janssen who had four hits and an rbi. Hill also had two hits and two rbis. Pinnacle Bank was led at the plate by Carpenter who had two hits including a triple. Daven Naylor also had two hits. Holdrege is now 1-1 on the season and will host Gothenburg tonight at 8pm that game can be heard on KUVR. Lexington is now 2-1 and will play at Gothenburg on Friday night at 8pm and that game can be heard on KAMI country.
