Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen officially signed a proclamation declaring August 25 – August 31 as Nebraska Drug Overdose Awareness Week.

This initiative is aimed at raising public awareness about the ongoing opioid crisis and the devastating impact of drug overdoses in the state.

The proclamation signifies Nebraska’s commitment to addressing this critical public health issue, emphasizing the importance of prevention, education, and support for those affected by drug addiction and overdose.

Nebraska Drug Overdose Awareness Week is set aside for reflection, advocacy, and action to save lives and support recovery efforts across the state.

Amy Holman, Project Coordinator for the Nebraska Pharmacists Association says, last August her group added online ordering of no-cost Narcan to stopodne.com and since, have sent out over 5000 boxes of Narcan to Nebraskans.
