Merriman, Nebraska’s Garrett Shadbolt won the bareback riding in the first performance of the rodeo at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Shadbolt bested his opponents with an 85.5 point ride on United Pro Rodeo’s Big Apple.
Shadbolt’s success on Saturday has propelled him to the semifinals, which will take place July 26th and 27th.
The “Daddy of ’em All” takes the top six contestants from each quarterfinal performance to the semifinal round. Shadbolt will fight for his spot in the finals on Sunday, July 28th to compete for the championship title.
Shadbolt is a 2x National Finals Rodeo qualifier and is currently ranked 10th in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings.
