A big second day in North Platte helped the Overton boys golf team to the Class D title. The Eagles trailed by 21 strokes after the first day but rallied to beat St. Pats by three strokes on Wednesday 681-684. Sophomore Braden Fleischman led the Overton cause as he tied for 8th with a two day total of 166. It is just the second golf state championship for the school with the other one coming in 1967. Other members of the team are Kaden Lux, Alex Banzhaf, Connor Shively and Brody Fleischman. St. Pat’s Teegan Sonneman claimed the individual title, while teammate Connor Hasenauer was second. Elm Creek’s Nathan Gilming tied for 6th. In Class A, Lincoln Southeast took the title, Thomas Bryson of LSE was the medalist. In Class B, Norris, fought off Skutt and York for the title, while Minden was 8th. William Mullin of Skutt was the champ. In Class C, Columbus Scotus won the chamionship while Doniphan Trumbull was second. Kearney Catholic was 4th, GICC was 5th, and Amherst tied for 6th. Palmyra’s Noah Carpenter was the state state champion. Click here for all of the results.
