Contraband THC items seized at Cozad rest area

Two men were arrested at the eastbound Cozad rest area after a number of contraband THC items were discovered. It occurred around 7:46pm Thursday July 11, 2024 as a Nebraska State Patrol trooper came upon a parked pickup pulling a utility trailer. The trooper contacted the occupants of the vehicle and detected the odor of Marijuana. A probable cause search was then conducted leading to the discovery of 7,120 THC vape pens and cartridges, 4.9 pounds of Marijuana bud, 6 grams of THC wax, rolling paper and a dispensary receipt.

The two men, 21-year-old Flynn Henderson of St. Paul, MN and 20-year-old Everest Peters of Little Canada, MN were taken into custody and booked into the Dawson County Jail. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

Both men were arraigned in Dawson County Court Friday where they were both charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. The charge is a Class IIA Felony, punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment. Dawson County Judge Jeffrey Wightman set their bonds at 10% of $50,000 their next hearings on July 29, 2024 at 11:00am in Dawson County Court.
