An Arapahoe woman has been charged with False Reporting in Furnas County Court. Kaley Carrasco is scheduled for arraignment on the charge on November 4, 2024 at 1:00pm.

The charge stems from an incident on September 23, 2024 in which Carrasco accused a man of False Imprisonment. The charge against the man was dismissed on Monday at the request of Furnas County Attorney Patrick Calkins.

False Reporting is a Class I Misdemeanor and carries a penalty of up to 1 year jail and/or up to $1,000 fine.

Calkins says the case took a turn when the 24-year-old Carrasco was testifying in a deposition last week. Some inconstancies emerged during her testimony, including admitting that she had lied about being pulled into the defendant’s pickup and acknowledged that she willingly got in the pickup.

Calkins says that as a result of her conduct, the defendant spending some time in jail and him being forced to post a significant amount of money to bond out of jail, the amount of time and substantial resources expended in investigating and prosecuting the matter, Carrasco was issued a court summons to appear on the charge of False Reporting.
