William Henry “Bill” Nolte, 86, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand, Nebraska, where he lived for the last 10 years. Bill was born on January 15, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Henry and Caroline (Rowing) Nolte. The family lived in Iowa City, Iowa, where Bill received his education. Bill worked as a mechanic in Iowa City, at the Ford Garage.

In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and proudly served for 8 years, until his honorable discharge in 1963.

On November 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Pauline Anderson in Grand Island, Nebraska. On December 3, 1970, the couple adopted their daughter, Euna Kay, at the age of 6, from Korea through the Holt Adoption Agency. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Bill was employed as a Mechanic at Carlson Motor Company, now known as Dannull Engine for 14 years. He then drove the school bus and worked as custodial for Holdrege High School for 14 years. Bill then worked in the maintenance department for Phelps Memorial Health Center and then at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, until his retirement in 2008. Bill was preceded in death by Pauline on May 31, 2002.

Bill was fortunate enough to find love again and on March 22, 2003, he was united in marriage to Lucille Nelson at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege. They made their home in Holdrege, where they spent every day together and lived life to the fullest; dancing, traveling, staying active, day trips to Wal-Mart and just enjoying each other’s company.  She preceded Bill in death on January 22, 2015.

For many years he attended the Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, and then the Evangelical Free Church in Loomis. Bill and Pauline enjoyed camping and were a part of the “Fun Finders” camping club in Minden, Nebraska. Bill also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and enjoyed yard work and mowing.

Besides his parents and both wives, he was preceded in death by: his sister, Mary Grell and her husbands, Bill and Dick; three sisters-in-law: Mabel (Herbert) Johnson; Grace (Paul) Almquist; and Dorothy Anderson; and one brother-in-law, Robert Anderson in infancy.

Bill leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter, Euna Kay Vosburg and her husband, Scott of Holdrege; grandson, Ian Vosburg and his wife, Kaitlin of Lincoln; two great-grandchildren: Kenley and Madi Vosburg; and extended family members and friends.
