Private Memorial Graveside Services for Viola T. “Dolly” Vaughn will be held at the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Viola Theresa “Dolly” Vaughn, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Arapahoe, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Dolly was born on July 9, 1926, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the youngest of eleven children to Jacob and Anna Domaleski.  Dolly received her education through the 8th Grade in New Jersey.

On April 29, 1946, Dolly was united in marriage to Robert “Dale” Vaughn in New Jersey.  This union was blessed with three children:  Judy, Robert, and Janet.  The family made their home in Arapahoe.

Dolly worked at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege and in later years, she cleaned homes for others.  In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and putting together jigsaw puzzles; Dolly’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Dolly was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her daughter, Judy Ann Downey; her son, Robert James Vaughn; four sisters; and six brothers.

Dolly leaves to celebrate her life; her daughter, Janet Arford and her husband, David of Holdrege; six grandchildren:  Ted Downey and his wife, Tiffany of Arapahoe; Dan Vaughn and his wife, Jill of Hershey, Nebraska; Tim Vaughn and his wife, Celie of Hershey; Staci Gilmore and her husband, Ryan of Hershey; Crystal Tilson and her husband, Brett of Holdrege; and Nick Arford of Holdrege; 12 great-grandchildren:  Brian Downey, Alyssa Downey, Kate and Ty Vaughn, Shayda and Ali Vaughn, Rylan and Rhys Gilmore, and Conner, Alexa, Mariya, and Blair Tilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing.  The family is honoring Dolly’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Dolly’s honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
