Scott Titkemeier, 46, of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and formerly of Wilcox

     A Funeral Service for Scott W. Titkemeier will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wilcox, Nebraska, with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honors Team, at the Church. 

     The Funeral Service will be livestreamed via the St. John’s Lutheran Church page.  

     Scott Wayne Titkemeier, 46 years of age, of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, formerly of Wilcox, Nebraska died on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in St. Louis Missouri, due to a vehicle accident.   Scott was born on December 16, 1977, in Minden, Nebraska, the youngest of two children, born to Larry and Jean (Nollett) Titkemeier.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  He attended and graduated from Wilcox Public School with the class of 1996.  

     Scott enlisted in the Air Force in 1996, he honorably served our country for 12 years as a Security Forces Military working dog handler. Scott, a proud military veteran, husband and father was married on May 1, 2010 in Alexandria, Virginia, to the love of his life, Jennifer.  Together they share two wonderful daughters, Sara Beth (10) and Emily (7).  He was the proud father to his much-loved older sons, Nicholas (27) and Clayton (24).  

     Scott earned a Bachler of Arts degree from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Scott was a vibrant, humble, compassionate, selfless individual.  He was funny and quick-witted, always wanting to have fun and know that those around him, were happy and safe, was all his heart needed.  Scott was a hard worker, and showed that in his dedication to his country with tours in both Korea and Iraq.  

     After his military career, he transitioned to government contracting, making life-long friends at Explosive Countermeasures International and the Defense Cyber Crimes Center.  In 2012, Jenny’s military career brought the family to Colorado, then Alabama, Florida, and currently, Illinois.  Scott was a talented craftsman and opened his own woodworking business, Twisted Trunk Woodworking. His family will treasure the beautiful wood creations he proudly gifted to them over the years.  Now in St Louis, he left an indelible mark on the community with his most recent work as a Peer Support Specialist at Places for People, a non-profit healthcare organization serving people with mental illness.  Scott understood walking through tough times, and he was in a place to help others heal and recover.  

     A true fighter, Scott never quit, despite adversity.  He taught his children love and strength, independence and empathy.  His legacy is his family, his wife, and his four children.  Scott will be remembered for his selfless ability to reach out with kindness and loving support towards friends and family who needed encouragement or a helping hand.  His endearing and larger than life personality brought joy to all who shared time with him.  Scott enjoyed family time watching his favorite teams: Nebraska Corn Huskers, Green Bay Packers and Washington Capitals, and The Fighting Irish; cooking for his family and friends, his beautiful singing voice, and devotion for family.  

     Scott is survived by: his wife, Jennifer Titkemeier, and their two daughters: Sara Beth, and Emily; his sons:  Nicholas of Wamego, Kansas; and Clayton and his girlfriend, Allyson Brunner of Kansas City, Kansas; his parents, Larry and Jean Titkemeier of Wamego, Kansas, is father-in-law, Steven Mayer of Lacross, Wisconsin; mother-in-law and step-father- in- law:  Mary Beth and James Specht of Loveland, Colorado; his sister, Angie Ellis of Lincoln, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Michael Mayer and Nathan Specht; nieces: Brianna and Samantha Ellis; great-niece, Juliette Adams, nephews: Ethan and Weston Mayer; along with a host of family and friends.  

     Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
