Loraine Kathleen “Lori” Allard, 86, of Holdrege

    Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Loraine K. “Lori” Allard will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Nancy Carlson and Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will be held at the Moses Hill Cemetery in rural Phelps County, Nebraska following services.

     Loraine Kathleen “Lori” Allard, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Chrisoma West in Holdrege. Lori was born March 7, 1937, in Minden, Nebraska, the youngest of five children born to Jens N. and Lillie Alma (Nielsen) Johnson. She received her education from Zyba District #32 Country School near Minden, and then Minden Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1954. While in high school, Lori worked at Craig’s Café and Pedley Drug, both in Minden. 

     Following graduation, Lori moved to California where she was employed at A Ladies Dress Shop, North American Aviation and Autonetics, a division of the NAA. In 1962, Lori moved back to Nebraska. 

     On November 9, 1963, she was united in marriage to V. LaVale Allard at the Presbyterian Church in Minden, Nebraska. The couple were blessed with four children: Jeffery Alan, Janet Louise, Julie Ann, and Debra Lynn. The family made their home in Holdrege, where she and LaVale owned and operated Allard Sanitation for 28 years, until their retirement in November of 1986. During the years, Lori was also employed at Kearney County and Phelps County ASCS offices, Home Federal Bank, United Nebraska Bank, and Weight Watchers in Holdrege. LaVale preceded her in death in April of 2016.

     Lori was a master craftsman! She enjoyed making decorative art paintings, sewing, scrapbooking, and making greeting cards. She was skilled in cross-stitching and was an avid reader. Most importantly, Lori was a wonderful grandma. She loved attending every event and activity of her grandchildren that she could. 

      She loved the Lord Jesus passionately and shared His love with everybody she met. Everything she did was an overflow of her love for Jesus. Lori was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church. “Some day you will read or hear that I have passed away. Don’t you believe a word of it. I am more alive now than I have ever been. I just changed my address. I am in the presence of God!”

     Besides her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Allard; her daughter, Janet Chagnon and her husband Tom; two sisters, Milrae Bayer and her husband, Joe; Evelyn Sorensen and her husbands, George Knudsen and Cal Sorensen; two brothers: Cecil Johnson and his wife, Doris; and Eugene Johnson; sister-in-law, Viola Magill and her husband, Rex; and brother-in-law, Vernon Allard and his wife, Josephine.

     Lori leaves to celebrate her life; her two daughters: Julie Pramberg and her husband, Terry of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Debi Hadley and her husband, Craig of Loomis, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren: Gary Eby and his wife, Rhonda; Ginger Breinig and her husband, Randy; Ginny Shueey and her husband, Bob; Joe Anderson and his wife, Becky; Beth Anderson; Ryan Pramberg and his wife, Allison; Brady Pramberg and his wife, Sarah; Kim Larson and her husband, Trevor; Tyler Pramberg; Skylar Hadley; Carter Hadley; and Gunnar Hadley; 18 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Elizabeth Eby; Audrey, Shannon, Connor, Meredith, and Natalie Breinig; Sprocket Shueey; Lane, Abi, and Lexi Anderson; Morgan Anderson and Brian Reeves lll; Kaylee, Savannah, and Brooklyn Pramberg; and Ezra and Zoey Pramberg; three great-great-grandchildren: Drake, Parker, and Payton Anderson; sister-in-law, Jan Johnson of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of deeply loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

     Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

     A memorial has been established in Lori’s honor and is kindly suggested to the family for a later designation.
