A Graveside Service for Kendall Nelson will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Upland Cemetery, Upland, Nebraska, with Pastor Darren Theesen officiating.

A Fellowship, Luncheon, and Time to Greet the family will follow the graveside service at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Kendall Ray Nelson, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  He was born on February 8, 1958, in Minden, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to Marvin and Elliene (Danielson) Nelson.  Kendall was baptized at the Christian Church in Minden.  He attended Minden Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1976.

Following his education, Kendall began working construction jobs in the area.

On September 16, 1978, Kendall was united in marriage to Patricia Grams in Upland.  The couple were blessed with four children: Zach, Josh, Beth, and Andrew. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Kendall worked for KN Energy, Kinder Morgan Gas Company, and later, Source Gas.  He retired following 33 years of service.  Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Ace Hardware in Holdrege.

Together the family enjoyed camping and family trips to Estes Park, Colorado.  Kendall enjoyed taking care of his family, spending time with his Black Labs and working in his shop.  He found joy in staying busy with his yard and cleaning vehicles.  He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Kendall was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elliene Nelson; his step-father, Kenneth Christensen; his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Alvin and Vonda (Rudd) Grams; a brother, Dan Nelson; a brother-in-law, Jim Carlson; one nephew, Trent Carlson; a granddaughter, Brynn Lee Nelson; and a grandson, Samuel Knox Nelson.

Kendall leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 45 years, Patricia Nelson of Holdrege; his children: Zach Nelson and his wife, Wendi of Omaha; Josh Nelson of Hastings; Beth Pouk and her husband, Denny of Loomis; Andrew Nelson and his wife, Cassie of Omaha; and Erin Latter of Overland Park, Kansas;  grandchildren: Sebastian, Simon and Sawyer Nelson; Elijah, Emma, Georgia, and August Pouk; and Hezekiah, Lydia, Zela, Naomi, and Quinn Nelson; one brother, Lynn Nelson and wife, Linda of Minden; his sister, Mary Carlson of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law:  Sharon Nelson of Holdrege; Deb Hinze and husband, Doug of Axtell; and Donna Simon and husband, Doug of Omaha; along with many nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Memorials in Kendall’s honor are kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
