Glen Lindstrom, 92, of Holdrege

A memorial service for Glen D. Lindstrom will be held at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. Inurnment will be held following the service at the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery east of Funk with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Glen Dale Lindstrom, 92 years of age of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney, Nebraska. Glen was born on August 14, 1931 in Holdrege, the eldest of three children born to Carl and Ida (Garrelts) Lindstrom. He received his primary education from Wilcox Public Schools and then District #8 Country School in Phelps County. He then attended Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1949.

Following his education, Glen began farming. On January 30, 1952, he enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1954.

On November 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Larileen Amanda Schroeder at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, and to this union, four children were born: Steve, Martha, David, and Bryan. The family made their home on a farm northwest of Funk, where Glen engaged in his lifelong passion for farming and ranching. In 1996, the couple retired from farming.

In 2015 they made their home at Holdrege Memorial Homes and in 2020, Glen moved to the Central Nebraska Veteran’s Home.

Glen enjoyed hunting, going on walks, and conversing with friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in Holdrege, and a charter member of the Lions Club. Glen dedicated 25 years as a Funk Volunteer Fireman and served for 10 years on the Phelps Memorial Health Center Board of Directors.

Besides his wife and parents; Glen was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Larry and Helen Schroeder; one sister-in-law, Donna Rossen and her husband, Clayton, and one brother-in-law, Addison Johnson.
He leaves to celebrate his life; four children: Steve Lindstrom and his wife, Paula of Gilbert, Arizona; Martha Pajares and her husband, Jose Luis of Concord, California; David Lindstrom of La Vista, Nebraska; and Bryan Lindstrom and his wife, Julie of rural Oxford, Nebraska; three granddaughters: Meagan Peters and her husband, Brett; Amanda Browitt and her husband, Jordan; and Kasey Lindstrom; 5 great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Ava, and Beckam; and Neveah, and Bentley; one brother, Cecil Lindstrom and his wife, Karen of Holdrege; one sister, Lila Johnson of Holdrege; one sister-in-law, Carol Schroeder and her husband, John of Grand Island, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Glen’s wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Glen’s honor and kindly suggested to Fridhem Lutheran Church, the Phelps Memorial Health Center, or the First Responders of Funk.
