Bob Beisel, 85, of rural Funk

A funeral service for Bob Beisel will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Fridhem Cemetery, Funk, with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.

Bob Beisel, 85 years of age, of rural Funk, died on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. Bob was born on September 20, 1938, in Holdrege, the only son born to Robert O. and Lena A. (Nelsen) Beisel. He was raised on the family farm, North of Funk and received his primary education from Funk through the 7th grade. Bob attended and graduated from Axtell High School with the class of 1956.

Bob was inducted into the United States Army on April 25, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska. He took mechanic training at Fort Rucker Army Aviation School and was also awarded an Expert Rifle Badge. Bob was honorably discharged in 1964 and was transferred to the United States Army Reserves.

Bob was united in marriage to Marianne Tompkin on July 8, 1962, in Callaway, Nebraska. The couple made their home north of Funk, where Bob continued farming with his father. The couple was blessed with three sons: Robert, Ronald, and Roland. Bob continued to farm until 2006 when he retired.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church and the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 of Holdrege.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marianne Beisel in 2006.

Bob is survived by his three sons: Robert Beisel and his wife, Rebecca of Minden,

Nebraska; Ronald Beisel and his wife, Susan of Wilcox; and Roland Beisel and his wife, Kathleen of Wilcox; six grandchildren: Robert S. Beisel; Ryan S. Beisel and his wife, Sami Jo; Nicole Thayer and her husband, Wyatt; Bridget Beisel and her fiancé, Peyton Drudik; Kirsten Brown and her husband, Jesse; and Brittany DeWeese; 13 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting friends from 6:00p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
