Barbara Lee (Johnson) Lyon, 92 years of age, of rural Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born November 20, 1931, in Holdrege, the only child born to Franklin LuTannis and Bernice (Eberly) Johnson. She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools and graduated with the Holdrege High School class of 1949. After graduation, she worked at the AAA office (presently known as Farm Service Agency) for nine years, ending as office manager.

On February 21, 1953, Barbara was united in marriage to LaMonte Lyon at the First United Methodist Church, in Holdrege and to this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Mary Kay and Karen. The family made their home on the family farm in the Westmark Township.

She once said she would never marry a farmer, but soon found herself mixing Atrazine by hand, cultivating and hilling corn, driving and unloading trucks, all while fixing and serving forenoon lunch, dinner, afternoon lunch, and supper all on time. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed helping LaMonte on the farm.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior while helping with Vacation Bible School as a young girl. She began playing the organ at the Methodist Church at the age of 15 and continued playing at Holcomb until 2001 when LaMonte suffered a stroke. She was a faithful member of Holcomb, where she served in various capacities.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LaMonte in 2020; her half-brother, Lauren Johnson and his wife, Margaret; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Lyon; a sister-in-law, Grace Schubert; and her nephew, Mark Schubert.

Barbara leaves to celebrate her life; her two daughters: Mary Kay Lyon; and Karen Kreutzer and her husband, Scott all of rural Loomis; three grandchildren: Tabitha Hill and her husband, Jesse; Tessa Gall and her husband, Devin; and Brenden Kreutzer and his wife, Clare; eight great-grandchildren: Reese, Jade, and Jaelyn Hill; Kip, Brett, Hallie, and John Gall; and Ander Kreutzer; brother-in-law, Clayton Schubert; nephew, Dave Schubert and his wife, Diane; niece, Linda Harms and her husband, John; and many other relatives and friends.
