YORK – The 2024 Vincent Senior Legion Baseball Tournament concluded Sunday at the York Ballpark Complex. Twelve games in four days, and by the end Jordan’s Studio Post 331 (Omaha South) won its first Vincent Senior Classic title with an 8-6 win over Lincoln Chick-Fil-A (Lincoln Lutheran).
The hosts, York Cornerstone, capped off the week with a 2-1 record. The Kings opened the tournament on Thursday with a 15-0 win over S.O.S. (Shelby, Osceola, Stromsburg), to advance to the semifinals against Lincoln Chick-Fil-A. The team from Lincoln was able to get past York with a 12-2 win, setting Chick-Fil-A up for the title game. York played in the final consolation game on Sunday against Geneva Cornerstone, and came back from a 4-run deficit to win 5-4 in a walkoff.
Geneva went 1-2 on the week with a 12-2 win over Aurora, a loss to Omaha in the semifinals 10-5, and then the loss to York.
S.O.S finished the week 1-2 with the loss to York on Thursday, a consolation loss to U.B.C. (Utica-Beaver Crossing) on Saturday, and a final consolation win on Sunday against Aurora 10-2.
U.B.C went 1-2 on the week with the lone win coming against SOS, and losses to Lincoln, and Lousville-Weeping Water.
Aurora lost all three of their games in the tournament.
