Northeast Nebraska: Crops need sunshine, heat to cross finish line | Fridays in the Field
August 30th, 2024 | Alex Makovicka

Crops in northeast Nebraska received ample timely rains through mid-July, and now, farmers are hoping for sunshine and heat to take the crops to the finish line.

Chris Schiller farms near Scribner. He said much of the corn in the area is in the dent stage, while soybeans are filling pods. Schiller said aside from some isolated pest pressure, his crops are in great shape this year.

Given the ample rains in northeast Nebraska, Schiller said there is likely enough moisture in the ground to finish out the dryland crops.

He shares more about his area’s crop progress, including the status of his double-crop soybeans, in this week’s episode of Fridays in the Field.

Fridays in the Field is presented by FNBO.
