The past year will be remembered as a year of growth for the Nebraska Rural Radio Association (NRRA)leadership.

Chairman of NRRA, Ben Steffen, tells the Rural Radio Network that purchasing a 15th radio station in Nebraska was a big achievement.

In February, the NRRA announced it had reached an agreement to purchase KBRY-FM in Broken Bow from Mid-Nebraska Broadcasting, LLC.

“That decision to purchase Broken Bow station was a big one, and an important move,” Steffen said. “It strengthens our company’s presence in that community and reaches north further than we have been able to reach in the past.”

In a year-end interview, Steffen also commended the staff members within the company. Numerous staff members on the sales and programming teams were recognized for their outstanding broadcasts and sales achievements.

As the only radio group in the nation that is owned by a cooperative of farmers and ranchers, Steffen encourages Nebraskans to become a part of the association.

“You gain the pride and satisfaction of sharing the ownership and the commitment of our organization, moving agriculture forward and strengthing our communities,” Steffen said.

“If you think that is important for the future of Nebraska, for the future of agriculture, then becoming a member is an important way to buy in and to connect with this community and support the work of the Nebraska Rural Radio Association.”
