Well-known entertainer and singer- songwriter Jim Salestrom passed away on November 22, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Arvada, CO after a decade-long battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.
Salestrom was born in Omaha and co-founded the country-folk rock band Timberline in 1971, in which he was the lead singer and primary songwriter. In 1979, Salestrom joined Dolly Parton’s band as a singer and musician, playing acoustic, electric, and high-string guitars and banjo.
In his final Facebook post, Salestrom said “It has been an unbelievable life of travel, music, performance, singing, playing, writing, friendship, and love over decades of happiness. I’ve been so lucky to perform with incredible artists and for incredible people. Guitar has brought me all over the world to share my trade with so many audiences filled with friends and family.”
He is survived by his wife Pamela Dailer Salestrom, his daughter Casey, son-in-law Brandon Freeman and son James Salestrom Jr. of Nashville, TN. The true joy of his life was his grandson – Casey and Brandon’s son, Thomas James. Jim also dearly loved his brothers Chuck and Tom Salestrom and their families.
