LARAMIE, Wyo.  (April 13, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowboy football team hit the field for the ninth time on Saturday. The Pokes did so in front of a strong contingent of fans inside War Memorial Stadium on a sunny day in Laramie.

It marked the second-straight Saturday that Wyoming has held an open practice. Last Saturday, Wyoming hosted a youth clinic prior to practice that saw nearly 200 kids participate.

The scrimmage last just over two hours with the team working on various situations. Following practice, the Cowboys took pictures and signed autographs with fans in attendance.

Head Coach Jay Sawvel returns a core of veteran players to his roster including three players. That group saw action in nearly 50 plays during the scrimmage the first-year head coach said.

Wyoming will have five more practices remaining this spring with the Spring Game on April 27 wrapping up the schedule.

Thoughts from Head coach Jay Sawvel Following Practice

β€œIt was a beautiful day and appreciative of all the fans that came out today and watched us run around. We got a lot of scenarios in today, four-minute and two-minute. It was a good day in pads. We have work to do, but we have a great work ethic. This is more plays that we have done in a scrimmage since I have been here. I love the way that we are working.”

Spring Game

The spring game is set for April 27 at Cheyenne East High School with kick slated for 1 p.m. The spring game is also free and opened to the public.
