A Scottsbluff City Councilmember has submitted his resignation, effective immediately.

Terry Schaub submitted the letter to City Manager Dustin Rief and the Scottsbluff City Council, stating that he feels he is no longer to able effectively represent the citizens of Scottsbluff.

The matter was not discussed during Monday evening’s council meeting because there was not 24 hours notice to add the item to the agenda. During roll call during Monday’s meeting, Schaub’s name was not called, and there was no public discussion regarding the resignation.

The council will likely take up the matter of voting on whether or not to accept the resignation during their August 16th meeting.

Schaub, who was serving his first stint on council, was elected to a four year term back in 2018.

If the council accepts the resignation, the City of Scottsbluff will then begin the process of taking applications for someone to take over the seat for the remainder of Schaub’s term.
