Scottsbluff High School girls soccer coach Chad Larson, and his family, will be the focus for a big benefit party that’s planned for next Saturday.
Larson was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Those cancerous cells accumulate in the bone marrow and crowd out healthy blood cells.
Coach Larson recently had surgery to repair damage to his spine caused by the cancer. After he’s recovered from that he’ll start to undergo treatment for the myeloma.
Next Saturday, June 25th, the Larson Strong Luau will be held at the Scotts Bluff Country Club to benefit the Larson family. The event will be for all ages and will feature a silent auction, pool games, a burger and hot dog buffet, plus a cash bar.
Scottsbluff High School Activities Director Dave Hoxworth talked about how important Larson is to what goes on with Scottsbluff schools.
Single tickets to the Larson Strong Luau cost $50 and can be purchased by CLICKING HERE.
Chad’s coaching partner at Scottsbluff with the boys program is Nate Rock, who’s been heavily involved in putting this event together.
Coach Rock has visited and seen Larson multiple times since the diagnosis and says he’s, a “very strong guy, physically and emotionally. His spirits are high and he’s ahead of schedule as far as recovery goes it sounds like. He’s in good spirits and getting better every day.”
