At the start of the school year, a select few students from Gering High School were chosen to participate in a dual credit program with WNCC’s Diesel Tech Program.
As the first semester winds down, students, faculty and staff held a media day at the college to share the early success of the program.
Students like John Sweenie say that getting this hands on experience at such a young age is going to get him into the workforce with a well paying job.
Instructor Wayne Lund says the first semester focused a lot on overall safety, but says he’s really excited to help the students get dirty the second semester.
