Scottsbluff- The WESTCO Zephyrs used the momentum of a 7-run second inning to down McCook MNB, 13-5, in 6 innings.

That second inning Zephyrs come to the plate, recording three hits, two walks, and seven runs in the heavy scoring bottom of the frame. No hit was larger than Blake Grasmick’s three-run homer, scoring the final three runs of the inning and forcing McCook starting pitcher Espn Hall out of the game after 1 1/3 innings.

Grasmick ended his night with 2 for 3 with 5 RBI, while first baseman Ryan Hinman added 5 RBI on two hits. Michael Villagrana and Traven Jackson each added two RBI as well.

On the mound for the Zephyrs was Oscar Felix, who earned the complete game victory by pitching through the sixth inning while striking out seven, allowing four hits and three runs, two of which were earned, while walking only two batter and hitting one.

For McCook, they never went away, bringing the game to within five runs in the fourth inning, but stalling afterwards as they could never catch up with the red-hot WESTCO offense.

McCook was led offensively by the trio of Gabe Roberts, Brody Graham and Quintin Terry, who each recorded an RBI with Roberts and Terry recording hits as well.

Three pitchers took the mound for McCook. Hall started the contest and went 1 1/3 innings and allowed nine runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks before being relieved by Robert. He would go for 1 2/3 innings, taking the loss while giving up one earned run on one hit, striking out two. Then, Oliver Corbett entered and pitched the final three frames, but did not record an out in the sixth, finishing with the line of  two innings pitched allowing two hits, three runs, two earned and five walks.

WESTCO now improves to 17-21 and will host Sidney for a senior day doubleheader tomorrow at Cleveland field beginning at 5 p.m.

McCook falls to 17-14 and will head across town to take on Gering PVC in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Oregon Trail Park.
