For months, volunteers and staff members with the United Way of Western Nebraska have been touring the Panhandle selling ducks for one of their biggest fundraising events. Today, the winners were selected for a variety of prizes ranging from cash, gift certificates, vehicles and more.

On Saturday morning, United Way hosted their 27th Annual Duck Draw event at the 18th Street Plaza. More than 30 prizes were up for grabs, including a 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer donated by TEAM Auto Center and a 2024 Honda Side by Side donated by Sandberg Honda.

This year 7,882 ducks were sold, and that number of paper slips with corresponding numbers were drawn out of a large rotating barrel.

The 4th place prize was a Traeger grill and set donated by Home Depot, won by Ed Troupe of Hartville, Wyoming.

The 3rd place prize was an evening at the Party Deck at Oregon Trail Park, donated by the Western Nebraska Pioneers, which was won by Rick Hancock of Alliance.

The Honda Pioneer Side by Side was won by Hilary Wasserburger of Gering. Wasserburger is also the Director of the DOVES program.

This year’s first place, grand prize winner of the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer was won by Caleb Vaughan of Scottsbluff.

The top two winners will be presented with their prizes early next week during a ceremony at TEAM Auto Center in Scottsbluff.
