As part of their annual banquet and fundraising auction on Saturday night the Twin Cities Legion Baseball program welcomed in their first three Hall of Fame members.

The class was headlined by former, longtime head coach Mark Moran along with two former players, Doug Mitchell and Bo Bowman.

Of course when you think Twin Cities/WESTCO Baseball you immediately think of Mark Moran. Moran was the head coach for the team from 1991-2017, amassing a total of 884 career with 10 State Tournament appearances.

“Was kind of surprised when Dallas (Dallas Liptac, current head coach) talked to me about it. Great honor, I’m humbled to honored in this first group. Great, great night for me.”

Doug Mitchell played for the Z’s from 1991-1993 and was a standout on the mound and at the plate. Mitchell was front and center for one of the top moments in program history, when he was the winning pitcher against Rapid City in 1993, the year Rapid went on to win the American Legion World Series with a record of 71-4. Mitchell later starred at UNK as a pitcher/third baseman.

Moran called Bowman, “The best hitter we’ve ever had”.

Bo Bowman is the all-time leader in program history in batting average (.466) and career saves. After all-conference stops at Cochise JC and Louisiana-Monroe, Bowman played three years in the Colorado Rockies organization and finished his pro career with a .303 batting average.
