BAYARD- Entering the team’s third year of existence, the Bayard Tiger softball program wants to capitalize on the momentum of the school’s first postseason win in history and senior-heavy roster.

The Tiger’s second season ended with a 4-15 mark, but it’s the last win of the year that stands out for the team. They were able to defeat Hershey in the first round of subdistricts, 5-3, the first win in postseason play in the program’s young history.

Bayard graduated three seniors from last year’s team, but returns a veteran roster with six seniors that includes Braylynn Mick, Shayleigh West, Lilie Posey, Jenna Flores, Allyson Halverson and Haley Edmunds.

The Tigers will compete in class C and will open their season on the road for three straight days. The trip begins with a visit to Chadron to take on Southern Valley/Alma August 22, then the team heads to Schuyler and North Bend Friday and Saturday.
