Scottsbluff Police Apprehended Inmate Who Escaped Work Detail in Downtown Scottsbluff

An inmate who left a work detail program Wednesday morning in downtown Scottsbluff has been taken back into custody after being on the lam for a little more than one hour.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the Scottsbluff Police Department was made aware of an escape of 21-year-old inmate Aaron Wilder Jr.

Scottsbluff patrol officers were able to locate various cameras in the area to assist in the investigation. Based on this information, Scottsbluff officers were able to narrow the search area to a specific location.

Wilder Jr. was observed in the area of the 000 block of W. 23rd St. A perimeter was quickly established by Scottsbluff officers and Wilder was taken into custody, and without incident, at 11:15 a.m.

Scottsbluff Schools went into secure status during the 75 minute period, and that status has been since lifted.

Wilder Jr. is likely facing an additional felony charge of escape.
