The Colorado Rockies on Monday night won their series opener at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5.

After leading 1-0 early on the Rockies fell behind when the Diamondbacks scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning with two of the four runs coming on a Colorado error by third baseman Ryan McMahon.

Colorado got back into it quickly in the bottom of that same inning on RBI singles from Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones.

The Rockies would take the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning with a three run frame that was highlighted by a Elehuris Montero sacrifice fly, a McMahon RBI infield single, and also a bases loaded walk.

It’s never easy at Coors Field to close out games and this one no different as the Diamondbacks made it interesting in the ninth with Colorado having to use two relievers to eventually close the game down. After Arizona scored on a infield single Nick Mears was lifted in favor of Jake Bird, who eventually induced a game ending flyout off the bat of Eugenio Suarez.

With the win the Rockies are now 3-8 with first pitch tonight between the teams set for 6:40 pm.
