Panhandle roadways close as weather conditions deteriorate

Tur Nebraska Department of Transportation is closing several roadways as the latest spring snowstorm moves into the area.

Highway 71 closed between Gering and Kimball around 10 p.m. as road conditions worsened, especially in Banner County.

Around 11 p.m., Interstate 80 and Highway 30 were both was closed from Big Springs to the Wyoming line due to blizzard conditions and limitations in accommodations.

Conditions in other parts of the Panhandle varied from partial to fully covered roadways. A Blizzard warning is in effect until noon Sunday for Scotts Bluff, Banner, Kimball, Morrill and Cheyenne counties.
